HCA makes “considerable achievement” in inaugural year
The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has highlighted its achievements as the first year of being in operation comes to a close.
In its Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2008-09, it was revealed that the organisation and predecessor bodies completed work on some 53,843 affordable homes available for rent purchase.
Of such properties, some 30,820 were finished in the agency’’s first four months of operation, from December 1st 2008 to the end of March this year.
Those with jobs in housing could also be interested to hear the HCA has managed to attract just over £1 billion in prove sector investment and reclaim 327 hectares of brownfield land.
Sir Bob Kerslake, chief executive of the HCA, claims that in spite of the challenging market conditions "this has been a year of considerable achievement".
In its annual report published last week, the Tenant Services Authority reported that in the first year of its existence it managed to secure £34.1 billion in private finance and £32.7 billion of taxpayers” money to ensure the housing association sector remains stable in the current economic climate.
