Oxford housing association delivering “high quality” services
The Oxford Citizens Housing Association (OCHA) has been deemed as providing a "fair" housing management service, a new report shows.
A study by the Audit Commission and its network partners gave the association’s housing management services a one-star rating, stating that those working for the public sector institution are providing well-maintained homes and "good quality" supported housing services. Read more
New social housing bill introduced
A new bill has been announced to help the government meet its aim to build three million affordable homes for first-time buyers and families by 2020.
New measures in the Housing and Regeneration Bill will allow those working in the public sector to take more control over social housing projects, while the best housing associations will be able to free themselves from red tape and concentrate more on new housebuilding. Read more
‘Positive practices’ across Scottish social housing sector
A new study has found that positive practices are in abundance across the Scottish social housing sector.
The report, published by Communities Scotland, found that the best results were coming from organisations which had prioritised consultation. Read more
Several housing services receive praise
A number of local authorities, including South Holland and Rother district councils, have received praise for their strategic housing services.
The Audit Commission’s inspection gave South Holland two stars out of three for its commitment in providing affordable homes and preventing homelessness.
Rother District Council achieved one star with the commission stating that the service offered promising prospects for improvement. Read more
