Social housing centre of Welsh debate

The issue of social housing and regeneration was the subject of a debate in Wales last week, it has been revealed.

Organised by Community Housing Cymru, the seminar was chaired by Dr Barry Morgan, the Archbishop of Wales, with various panel members including deputy regeneration minister Leighton Andrews and Plaid Cymru president Dafydd Iwan.

During the debate, Mr Iwan pointed out the need for a mixture of affordable homes to be made available throughout the region including shared ownership schemes.

He added that the provision of housing is vital for both the survival of the Welsh language and that of communities in urban and rural areas.

Meanwhile, Mr Andrews unveiled a £1 million regeneration package and announced further plans to support the Welsh language.

Such news could be of interest to those people seeking jobs in housing.

At the beginning of last month, Jane Davidson, environment, sustainability and housing minister for the Welsh Assembly government, claimed that in the next three years all new homes built within the region will be carbon neutral.
