Shelter highlights homelessness
Shelter is highlighting the plight of homelessness, it has been revealed.
Moves by the organisation will see its Keys to the Future Newham Educational Support Project hold a special event today (August 5th) which focuses on young children who are homeless.
Adam Sampson, chief executive of Shelter, said: "Shelter’s Educational Support Project plays a crucial role in rebuilding the lives of those children whose education has been affected by their housing situation."
It was also revealed that since the beginning of Shelter’s Newham Project in June 2007, some 64 families across east London have been helped.
Such news could be of interest to those seeking jobs in the housing sector.
The event is to be attended by singer/songwriter Danelle Harvey, who herself was homeless as a child and is to meet with Shelter advisers to hear of the impact housing difficulties can have for young people.
Last week, it was revealed that Shelter is calling for residents of Weston Otmoor, Oxfordshire to make their opinions heard on plans to build a new eco-town which could help to address the shortage of residential accommodation in the area.
