Galliford Try to construct hundreds of affordable homes

Hundreds of affordable homes are to be built across the south-east of England, it has been revealed.

Galliford Try has won four contracts throughout the region which will see a variety of properties offered on a shared ownership or rent basis be made available.

One of the deals has seen the construction group be appointed by Circle Anglia to build a £11 million development in Plaistow, east London.

Meanwhile, Circle Anglia Housing Association has appointed the firm for a £34.5 million residential development in Enfield.

There will also be developments constructed in Hornsey and Plumstead for One Housing Group and ASRA Greater London Housing Association respectively.

Overall, 671 affordable homes are to be built.

Such news might interest those looking for housing jobs.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: "The award of these projects is testament to the strength of our partnerships with affordable housing providers and to Galliford Try’s track record in the affordable housing market."

Earlier this month it was revealed that the Tipton-based Neptune Park - which has been built by Accord Housing Association - was shortlisted for the Best Registered Social Landlord-Led Large Development prize at the Affordable Home Ownership Awards 2008 ceremony.
