ALMOs get access to Housing Corp funds
A number of arms length management organisations (ALMOs) have been given the green light by the Housing Corporation to access funds, it has been revealed.
Moves by the corporation will see some 16 organisations receive funds from the corporation’s National Affordable Housing Programme to build new homes.
Among the recently qualified ALMOs are Blyth Valley Housing, Gloucester City Homes and Gateshead Housing.
Dennis Rees, chair of the National Federation of Arms Length Management Organisations, said: "The ALMO movement continues to go from strength to strength and these latest achievements are further recognition of the work being done day in and day out to improve the lives of tenants around the country."
Now a total of 22 ALMOs have access to an overall grant of £8.4 billion.
Last week, housing minister Caroline Flint revealed a number of plans aimed at increasing the delivery of affordable homes, including a £270 million grant to the Housing Corporation to build more than 5,000 properties available on either a shared ownership or social rent basis.
