Leicester Housing Association puts forward affordable home plans
A housing association has put forward plans for the construction of a number of affordable homes in Kettering, it has been revealed.
Moves by Leicester Housing Association have seen it submit planning permission to the Northamptonshire town’s council to build a total of 57 one and two-bedroom flats.
Some 25 of the apartments proposed by the Registered Social Landlord will be available for rent, with 32 for sale via shared ownership, reports the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph.
A spokesperson for the association said: "The proposal is for a high quality, mixed-use development, which utilises previously developed vacant and derelict land."
"The development will greatly improve the quality of the public realm and make a positive contribution to much-needed affordable housing," he added.
Planned to be located in the Jobs Yard area of Kettering, the housing association aims for the development to provide homes to would-be first-time buyers who are on limited incomes.
In other news, housing consortium Quantum - which incorporates the Futures Housing Group and Wellingborough Homes - was recently revealed as surpassing targets set by the Housing Corporation in terms of building affordable homes.
