Riviera Housing Trust in merger move

Two housing associations are to join forces in the provision of housing services for a south-west town, it has been revealed.

Moves by the Riviera Housing Trust have seen it form links with the Worcester-based Sanctuary Group to provide housing in Torbay.

The announcement comes following a four-month consultation process in which Riveria asked both staff and tenants for their opinions on the future of the housing association.

Such news could be of interest to those looking for housing association jobs.

James O’Dwyer, chair of the Riviera Housing Trust, said: "We were seeking a partner that had both the financial capacity to support us in building more new homes in the bay as well as the necessary central services and strategic fit that will allow us to improve local services."

Now the two housing associations are to start work on merging, with the process set to be completed by April of next year.

Last month, it was revealed that Windmill Housing Association had joined forces with the Manchester Methodist Housing Association, which is a part of the Great Places Housing Group.
