Notting Hill Housing to build Newham development
Notting Hill Housing is set to construct a mixed-up development in east London, it has been revealed.
The move comes after the organisation has exchanged contracts for Ivax Quays in Newham which will be transformed into a residential-led development consisting of a mixture of shared ownership, rented and private sale homes.
News of the 13-acre waterside site forms part of the association’s growth strategy, which aims to build 2,000 new homes each year by 2010.
Kate Davies, chief executive of Notting Hill Housing, said: “The downturn in the market offers new opportunities for us to expand rapidly and build new homes for people in London.”
Ms Davies went on to report that as the current state of the property sector offers chances for registered social landlords to have a greater role in the development of homes, Notting Hill is continuing to look for large sites in the capital to construct “thriving, mixed communities”.
Public and commercial space is also to be incorporated into the development.
In April, it was revealed that Notting Hill Housing had extended Housing Options - its housing advisory service project which aims to help people looking to get on the property ladder become aware of the various options available to them.
