Affordable home plans unveiled in Chester
A number of affordable homes are set to be built in the north-west of England, it has been revealed.
The Housing Corporation has issued Chester city council with a £5.4 million grant to construct a total of 81 new properties.
Out of this investment, over £3 million is to go to Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) who are to match-fund this figure.
Built on CDHT land, two schemes will be constructed in rural areas and one development planned for within the city, with work set to begin later in 2008, the Chester Chronicle reports.
Paul Knight, executive housing manager at CDHT, said: "This is great news for Chester and goes some way to helping alleviate the requirements locally for affordable homes."
Some 55 homes will made available for rent, with 26 up for low-cost home ownership.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that an affordable housing development is to be built on the site of the Walthamstow Greyhound Stadium in east London.
