Old Ford commended in Housing Corporation report

A London housing association has received a prestigious prize from the Housing Corporation, it has been revealed.

Winning the Gold Award for Excellence, Old Ford Housing Association - which operates in the Bow district of east London - was commended for its achievement in the social housing sector.

In particular the body was praised for encouraging its tenants to recognise and appreciate differences within the community but also to get those from varying backgrounds to work and socialise together.

June Morton, managing director for the housing association, said: "Old Ford Housing Association delivers a range of different services and activities to all sections of the community in Tower Hamlets and works very hard to integrate people from all beliefs and backgrounds."

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Broadland Housing Association - which is based in eastern England - received a two-star rating for its services in a pilot short notice inspection carried out by the Audit Commission.
